So last week we had a very special piece come into the store
& I wanted to give it a shout out.

We have it listed on the website as the

$612 Victorian Marble Top Dressing Table 41w 17.5d 90h 12t0110v1

When it came to us it had all of it's original parts, but had been dissasembled. One of the cross pieces and a side ledge needed to be re-tacked and a couple drawers re-squared. After minor repairs everything cleaned up beautifully!! This is a soild oak piece with burled wood details. The piece is around 100 yrs old and in excilent condition. It has 3 marble slabs and all are intact and unchipped/scratched.

It has 2 large drawers (the bottom drawer has a split from age, but is completely functional) and 4 small drawers above. The mirror is original and in fantastic condition, no cracks, nicks or chips.

This is truely a historical beauty and I loved getting to work on such an interesting piece. The craftsmanship is excelent and a true testiment to a bigone era. Dressing tables were fashionable furnishing pieces during the Victorian period, due to the rise in dandyism. Maybe you're not a dandy, but you'll def impress your friends with this addition to your home.

So excited to let y'all know we just came across a supply of vintage insulators!!
I am a huge fan of these little historical gems.

I realize not everyone is familiar with these, so let me explain...
Shortly after the telephone began to grow in popularity, telephone and telegraph lines started to criss cross the country. These glass or ceramic "insulators" would protect the wires when joined to a telephone pole. Like so:

These insulators would proctect the cables from the elements and insure a solid connection when lines were joined. Some styles were produced from the 1890's through the 1960's! Funny how such a common piece of history can so quickly become obscure. Insulators were most often made from glass or cermaic, ranging in a wide varitey of colors, shapes, and sizes. Here are some common shapes and styles:

So hope everyone is excited! These are great conversation pieces for their small, compact size. They make lovey bookends or just look great sitting in the sun. Here are a couple creative projects for repurposing insulators:

Who was Paul McCobb and why is his stuff so expensive?

This is a rare piece and in good condition, we wont see many of these.

During his relatively brief career, McCobb designed a plethora of items in virtually every category of goods including, textiles, wallpaper, lighting, dinnerware, radios and of course furniture. However, he is probably best known for his "Planner Group" line of furniture, which was in continuous production at Winchendon from 1949-1964 and is regarded as one of the best selling collections of the 1950's.- Quoted

The walnut has matured into a rich honey color. A few scratches on top, good condition. Drawers and Legs are in excellent condition. Original hardware.

6 Drawers with ample storage. Glide well. Drawer front in very good condition.

Just found this awesome distillery online that is based out of Glackstadt, Mississippi. They produce one product, Cathead Vodka, but are in the works of releasing more. A portion of the profits of this company, under the small umbrella organization Bottletree Beverage Co., goes to fund charitable organizations dedicated to live music and the arts, such as the Music Maker Relief Foundation. We think this is great!

Cathead is not distributed in New York yet, but keep asking at your local liquor stores and watering holes so that they will stock the shelves with it soon!
